The MCSD Transportation Department would like to invite all incoming Muskie Early Learning Center (MELC), Kindergarten, and 1st-grade students and their families to attend the “Back to School Busing Ride Along.” Attendance at this event is not required but “strongly recommended” so your child can better acclimate to the busing procedures and meet their bus driver before the first day of school.
What will happen at this event?
1. Your child will meet their bus driver.
2. You and your child will ride the exact route and be dropped off at your child’s bus stop, or you and your child can ride back to MHS.
3. Your child will become familiar with the bus route and know which stop to get off at on the first day of school.
4. Your child will know where their bus will be parked in the loading zone.
5. The bus rules and expectations will be explained to you and your child.
When is this event?
Tuesday, August 22, 2023
5:45 PM – Park in the Cedar St upper lot at MHS and find your bus; staff members will help direct you to the buses.
6:00 PM – Buses depart for schools
6:10 PM – Principals/Staff will give a brief explanation of expectations at the school
6:20 PM – Buses depart and follow afternoon routes to students’ homes
7:20 PM – Buses return to MHS for dropoff
Again, this event is optional but “strongly recommended,”, especially for Melc and kindergarten students, for whom this is their first experience riding a school bus. Riding the bus for the first time can often be an “anxious” event for students and parents alike. We genuinely hope you take advantage of this opportunity to better acclimate your child to the busing procedures and routes they will be riding in the upcoming year.
Busing information will be sent to you before August 22. Please look for this information before this evening so that you know what bus to look for.
